If the median of the following distribution is $32.5$, then find the values of $x$ and $y$.

Sol. Correct table (1 1/2 Mark)
31+ x + y = 40 ⇒ x + y = 9-------(i) (1 Mark)
Median class $= 30 - 40$ (1/2 Mark)
Median $= 32.5 = 30 + $20-(14+ x)/12$ \times 10$ (1 Mark)
⇒ x = 3 (1/2 Mark)
⇒ y = 6 (1/2 Mark)
