$\text{AC}^2 = \text{AB}^2 + \text{BC}^2$ (1 Mark)
$a^2 + b^2 = (a - 1)^2 + 1 + 1 + (b - 1)^2$ (1 Mark)
$\Rightarrow 2a + 2b = 4$ or $a + b = 2$
$\text{AC}^2 = \text{AB}^2 + \text{BC}^2$ (1 Mark)
