A circle is inscribed in a $\Delta ABC$ touching $AB$, $BC$ and $AC$ at $P$, $Q$ and $R$ respectively. If $AB = 12$ cm, $AR = 8$ cm and $CR = 6$ cm, then find the length of $BC$.

$AR = AP = 8$ cm
$\therefore BP = 12 - 8 = 4$ cm $= BQ$
Also $CR = CQ = 6$ cm
$\therefore BC = BQ + CQ = 4 + 6 = 10$ cm
